What are communication barriers?
Communication is one of the most important spheres of a person's life. However, it is not always possible for people to find a common language. The fault is that communication barriers are psychological and other difficulties in communication.
A communicative barrier is one reason,It prevents people from building effective communication or completely blocking it. In the presence of communication barriers, information is distorted, loses its original meaning, or does not reach the recipient at all.
External communication barriersUnder external communication barriers are understoodcircumstances unrelated to the interlocutors, for example, unfavorable conditions or a meeting place: cliffs and telephone communication problems, weather anomalies, severe noises, etc. The barrier of misunderstanding, when people speak different languages in a literal sense, have defects in speech and diction, can also be attributed to external barriers. This includes the forced operation of special terms, in which the interlocutor does not understand, the socio-cultural differences and the traditions of behavior in society.
Internal communication barriersInternal barriers are psychological. It can be a prejudiced attitude to the interlocutor for any reason (because of his nationality, sex, age, social status, etc.), his appearance, character traits and behavior, his kind of activities. In this case, stereotypes interfere with the objective perception of the speech of a person and make them negatively evaluate it, which affects the communication. Another similar problem is selective hearing, when a person notices in a foreign speech only that information that is close to him or with which he agrees. And that which contradicts his ideas or interests, simply skips past the ears. Such people hear only what they want to hear. If a person is constantly distracted, this will also prevent him from establishing trustful and effective communication, the interlocutor can be insulted when he sees an inattentive attitude towards himself. In the form of a communicative barrier, the negative psychological mood of the interlocutor may appear: aggressive, inflated condition, tension, unwillingness to talk, bad state of health, resentment or anger at the interlocutor, etc. They interfere with communication of mistrust, feelings of hostility, emotional closeness and clamor, complexes and fears, a significant difference in the perception of the interlocutors. So, one person with a phrase will have one association, depending on his life experience, and the second - another, and the idea of the problem they may have is completely different. This is the so-called logical barrier that often arises between people with different types of thinking: visual-figurative, abstract-logical or visual-effective. Differently, the speed of thinking, criticality, flexibility, depth, the way information is delivered (short and concise or florid). In this case, an attempt to understand the interlocutor and put himself in his place, attentiveness can solve the problem.
