How to glue a tile
Tile is considered one of the most convenientfinishing materials. It can be used for wall finishing, and for floor installation, rooms with any temperature are suitable for it. Also, the tile is considered highly ecological material.
You will need
- - tile;
- - adhesive mixture;
- - putty knife;
- - container for glue;
- - building level.
Choose a tile depending on the surface,on which it is planned to glue it. To calculate the required number of tiles, make measurements of the surface that requires finishing. Material should be purchased with a small margin in case of a marriage.
Prepare the surface before proceeding togluing the tiles. It is necessary to clean and dry it, and in most cases even. If the surface is uneven, the tile can not be laid beautifully and correctly. On the surface prepared for gluing the tile, make incisions using a chisel. They should be frequent, shallow. Thanks to them, a good adhesion of the tile to the surface will be ensured due to the adhesive solution. He will cling to the notch, which will ensure the tile reliable grip.
Dampen the surface of the water to which you are goingto lay a tile. Thus, it will be possible to prevent the liquid from absorbing the adhesive solution. If you neglect wetting, moisture from the adhesive will almost completely pass into the surface and the quality of pasting will be much worse.
Prepare the adhesive in full accordance withinstructions on the package. Apply the solution to the surface in an even layer, do not allow it to accumulate in separate areas. Use a spatula or trowel to apply the adhesive mixture. Its layer should not be too thick, and on the surface it should be distributed as evenly as possible.
Take the tile in one hand, and put another onUsing a spatula, use a little glue. Align the mixture and apply the tile to the surface. It should immediately be pressed more tightly, and then trim, using a wooden mallet. When laying a tile, it is necessary to control its horizontal and vertical position all the time, to check them with the help of a building level, plumb bobs. As the simplest plumb bob, you can use a thread, at the end of which a load is attached - a bolt, a nut, etc. After the tiles are laid all over the surface, the seams of the masonry will have to be sealed using a trowelling mortar.
